How to Manage Coupons in the eCommerce System
Coupons are an excellent way to incentivize customers, provide discounts, and drive sales. The system offers an easy-to-use interface for managing coupon codes, allowing you to track their status, modify details, and create new ones. This article explains how to manage your coupons effectively.
Accessing the Coupon Management Page
1. Navigate to Coupon Management:
o To access the coupon management page, go to eCommerce > Coupons in your system dashboard.
o This page displays a list of all available coupons, showing important details such as the coupon code, its type, status, and expiry date.
2. Viewing and Managing Existing Coupons:
o From the coupons list, you can see the status of each coupon (e.g., active or expired) and its associated type.
o To modify the details of any coupon, simply click the Manage Icon next to the coupon you want to edit.
o Here you can adjust the coupon details, expiration date, or even delete the coupon if needed.
Creating a New Coupon
To add a new coupon, follow these steps:
1. Fill in the Coupon Form:
o Coupon Code:
Enter a unique coupon code that customers can use at checkout. Make sure it's easy to remember and relevant to the promotion.
o Discount Type:
Choose the type of discount the coupon will apply. You have three options:
Percentage Discount: A specific percentage off the total price (e.g., 10% off).
Fixed Cart Discount: A fixed amount off the total price (e.g., $20 off).
Free Delivery: This type of coupon removes the shipping cost for the order.
o Coupon Amount:
If you selected Percentage Discount or Fixed Cart Discount, you will need to input the discount amount. For example, for a percentage discount, enter 10% or for a fixed discount, enter $20.
o Available for Categories:
Specify which product categories the coupon is available for. This can be set to the main product category. Note that you can only assign the coupon to the main category, not specific subcategories.
o Coupon Expiry Date:
Set an expiry date for the coupon to limit its usage to a specific time period. The coupon will automatically deactivate after this date.
o Exclude Product on Sale:
You can choose to exclude products that are already on sale from being eligible for the coupon discount. This ensures that sale items don’t receive additional discounts.
o Expiry After One Use:
This option allows you to make the coupon valid for one-time use only per customer. Once used, the coupon will automatically expire for that user.
2. Save the Coupon:
o After filling out all the necessary details, click Save to create the coupon. The coupon will now be available for use by customers who meet the criteria.
Managing Coupon Status and Expiry
1. Tracking Coupon Usage:
o Once your coupon is created, you can track its usage and performance directly from the Coupons page. You’ll see whether the coupon is active, expired, or used up.
2. Deactivating or Expiring Coupons:
o If you wish to deactivate a coupon before its expiry date or modify its details, simply click the Manage Icon and adjust the settings accordingly.
Tips for Effective Coupon Management
• Use Unique Codes for Different Campaigns:
o Create specific coupon codes for each marketing campaign to better track performance and user engagement.
• Limit Coupon Usage:
o If you’re running a time-limited offer, be sure to set an expiration date and consider the Expiry After One Use feature to prevent overuse.
• Monitor Coupon Performance:
o Track how often coupons are used, and adjust your promotions accordingly to maximize customer engagement and boost sales.
Managing coupons in your eCommerce system is a simple yet powerful way to provide discounts and promotions to your customers. By following the steps outlined above, you can easily create, modify, and track coupons, giving you the flexibility to run targeted promotions that help increase sales and customer loyalty.
