Setting up an online store involves configuring essential details to ensure a smooth sales process. Most primary settings can be added during the eCommerce wizard setup. However, if you skipped the wizard or want a detailed overview of necessary settings before launching your online store, this guide is for you.
Basic Details
To set up the basic details required for your online store, follow these steps:
1. Navigate to eCommerce > Payments & Settings.
2. Under the Business Details section, fill in the following:
o Company Name
o Tax ID
o Business Address
o Postcode/Zip Code
o Country
These details are crucial for legal compliance and ensuring smooth transactions with customers.
Payment Information
Define your store’s payment settings to manage transactions effectively:
1. List the countries where you will offer your products or services.
2. Select the currency your store will operate with.
Payment Methods
To start accepting payments, configure payment methods:
• Direct Bank Payment: Allows customers to transfer funds directly to your account.
• Online Payments via Stripe: Stripe is a trusted payment gateway supporting multiple currencies and worldwide transactions.
Note: HitMe currently does not support PayPal. For an alternative, Stripe provides a seamless and secure way to process online payments.
Tax Rates
Ensure compliance with tax regulations by configuring tax rates:
1. Go to eCommerce > Settings > Tax Rates.
2. In the Tax Settings section, set:
o The default tax rate for your store.
o Tax Rules to define when taxes should be calculated or exempted.
3. If you sell in multiple countries, add a list of countries with varying tax values to accommodate different tax laws.
Shipping Options
If your store offers physical products, shipping settings are essential:
1. Navigate to eCommerce > Settings > Shipment.
2. From this page, you can:
o Add shipping methods and specify pricing details.
o Define applicable taxes for each shipping method.
o Enable or disable cash on delivery (COD) for selected shipping options.
