Integrations: Bing Domain Verification

What It Is: A verification code provided by Bing Webmaster Tools.

How It Helps: By adding the Bing verification code to your website, you verify ownership of your site with Bing. This allows you to submit sitemaps, monitor your site’s performance on Bing, and get valuable insights such as search queries, click-through rates, and crawl issues.

Benefit: Ensures your site is indexed and optimized for Bing search, which helps in attracting more traffic from Bing’s search engine.

Step 1: Set Up a Bing Webmaster Tools Account

Before you can verify your domain, you need a Bing Webmaster Tools account.

Sign Up for Bing Webmaster Tools:

Go to Bing Webmaster Tools.

Sign in with your Microsoft account or create a new one.

Add your website URL to begin the verification process.

Choose Verification Method:

After adding your website, Bing will prompt you to verify ownership.

Select the HTML Meta Tag verification option.

Copy the meta tag that Bing provides — you’ll need it in the next step.

Step 2: Add the Bing Verification Code in the HitMe Panel

Now that you have your Bing verification tag, add it to your website using the HitMe integration panel.

Log In to the HitMe Panel:

Open the HitMe panel in your browser and log in with your admin credentials.

Navigate to the Analytics / SEO Section:

In the left sidebar, go to Website > Analytics / SEO.

Under that section, select Integrations.

Paste the Bing Verification Code:

In the Integrations section, locate the field labeled Bing Domain Verification.

Paste the HTML meta tag you copied from Bing into this field.

Save the Changes:

Click Save to apply the changes.

HitMe will automatically insert the verification tag into your site’s section.

Step 3: Complete Domain Verification in Bing

After you've added the tag in HitMe, return to Bing Webmaster Tools to verify ownership.

Return to Bing Webmaster Tools:

Go back to the site verification screen.

Click the Verify Button:

Bing will scan your website for the verification meta tag.

If it finds the tag correctly installed, your domain will be verified.

Step 4: Troubleshooting

If Bing is unable to verify your domain, try the following steps:

Check That the Tag Was Saved:

Revisit the HitMe panel and confirm that the meta tag was saved in the Bing Domain Verification field.

Clear Cache and Wait:

Sometimes it takes a few minutes for Bing to detect the tag.

Try clearing your browser cache and checking again.

Use Browser Dev Tools:

Open your website in a browser.

Right-click and choose View Page Source.

Search for the meta tag to confirm it appears in the section.

Double-Check the Tag:

Make sure you copied the entire tag from Bing, without modifying or truncating it.

Step 5: Access Webmaster Tools Features

Once verified, you’ll have access to a range of tools to monitor and improve your site’s performance on Bing:

Submit Sitemaps:

Submit your XML sitemap to Bing to help improve indexing.

Monitor Search Performance:

Track impressions, clicks, and search queries that drive traffic to your site.
